WACE’s 14th World Conference is designed to increase your effectiveness – in educating students, recruiting, and training employees, and building a healthy economic climate. Each day will be packed with opportunities to ask questions, debate issues and learn from world-renowned leaders.

Our stimulating program runs concurrently with Northeastern’s Third International Conference on Practice-Oriented Education.  This unique dimension of the WACE conference features more than 20 sessions focused specifically on Practice-Oriented Education.  They will concentrate on the key elements that distinguish Practice-Oriented Education from education that is entirely school-based or entirely work-based.

Our speakers will deliver thought-provoking messages on the inter-dependence of education and economic policy development.

Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz, Ph.D., will deliver the Keynote Address on Wednesday morning. He is an expert on the economic policies of developing and developed nations. Dr. Stiglitz will address the role education plays in human capital workforce development.

Plenary Luncheon address by Etienne Wenger, Ph.D., author and visionary leader in the field of Communities of Practice.

Weijang Zhang, Ph.D., the Director-General of the Education Commission for Shanghai in the People’s Republic of China, will deliver the Plenary Address on Thursday. Dr. Zhang is responsible for developing educational policies for 17 million students. He will discuss the impact Work-Integrated Learning has had on Shanghai’s economy since China’s reform.

Three panels of distinguished leaders will examine WIL from their unique perspectives:

      - College and University Presidents

      - Executives of Multi-National Corporations

      - Economic Development Ministers

Plus 130 concurrent sessions will address Work-Integrated Learning and Practice Oriented Education on a practical level.

You’ll leave with specific ideas … new strategies to improve your programs.
